The incomparable Gil Scott Heron passed away yesterday, Gil Scott was an artist that I didn't have the pleasure of getting to know until I got to college (I blame the public education system, did I really need to read a thousand chapters courtesy of Orwell). But I digress the man is great and even better he always understood that art grows and changes over time and he always not only adapted in his 30 years but kicked ass at it influencing everyone from Bun B and Kanye West to even the XX's as shown in his more recent music video courtesy of Jamie XX
